What I read in December 2025

I'm currently reading Deeplight by Frances Hardinge. I'm reading an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. This is my third time reading this book. Reading this one for a buddy read. This is a young adult fantasy book.
Was really in the mood to read this again and I'm glad I picked this up. I still find this a very fascinating story. What I especially love about this book is the writing style. It's so beautiful and so well done. Absolutely love it.
It took me a very long time to read this book, but I actually really enjoyed that experience. Dipping in and out of a book that I really love was a very fun time. I still really love this book and I will definitely read it again and again.

I have read That blue sky feeling Volume 3 by Okura. This is the third and final volume in the That blue sky feeling series. I read this for my Series TBR. This is a young adult contemporary manga with LGBTQ+ characters.
Didn't like this as much as the other two volumes. The pace felt off for me. The whole series is about a certain theme and when they finally got to that conclusion it was over very quickly. I would have liked to see a bit more from the characters. I think four volumes might have been better? But still enjoyed this series. Am going to unhaul the books though.

I have read I can't remember the title, but the cover is blue by Elias Greig. I read the ebook. Read this for the second time. This is an adult memoir.
Loved this again! I read this in one sitting again like the first time I read it. It's such an easy read. I love all the anecdotes the author has about working in a bookshop. Very quick and very funny! Might want to buy this one and get it for my shelves.

I'm currently reading The tenfold tenants by E.V. Belknap. This is my second time this year reading this book. I'm reading it for a buddy read and because I try to read favorite books of the year in December. This is an adult fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
Loving
this so far of course. It's the absolute best! I keep gigling whilst
reading, loving that experience. I actually think this book is similar
to The house in the cerulean sea, which is my favorite book. Only this
one is with adults instead of children. So would recommend if you
enjoyed that book.
Yes, still 5 stars! Easy. I just love all these characters so much. It's also a great premise and the author did an amazing job with that premise. Is this a perfect book? No, I don't think so. There is some repition with the writing. The pace is maybe not the absolute best. But I don't care haha. I laughed almost every page. It felt like a big warm hug. Will definitely buy this book and read it again and again.

I have read Cat + Gamer Volume 3 by Wataru Nadatani. This is the third book in the Cat + Gamer series. This is a contemporary manga.
This was lovely. The cat in this series is very cute. The story was fun to read. Did not have the same feeling as I had with the first book. I only have the three volumes, so can't read on. I would have liked to, but am not going to go out of my way to find the other volumes. Would still recommend though if you want a cosy lighthearted manga to read.

I'm currently reading Love that story by Jonathan Van Ness. I'm listening to the audiobook. Reading this for my Authors TBR. This is an adult memoir in essay format with LGBTQ+ themes.
Loving this so far. I really love the audiobook, since Jonathan narrates it themself. I really like all the observations he is talking about. Learning some things and it definitely makes me think. Really appreciate Jonathan for being so vulnerable and sharing so much.
This was a really good book. Really enjoyed everything the author talked about. Definitely made me think about certain things. Would definitely read more!

I'm currently reading The halcyon fairy book by T. Kingfisher. I'm reading the ebook. Reading this for my 2025 reading goal of reading new(ish) genres. Also reading this for my Authors TBR. This is an adult fantasy book in short stories format.
The start of this book is fairy tales that the author has added commentary to. The fairy tales are just fine, but the commentary is very entertaining to read. So really enjoying it! Can't wait to get to the short stories written by the author.
The short stories were good. I do think these kind of short stories could work for me. I did not feel that should have been longer for any of the stories. I do think it works well to read them before going to sleep, so I can just read one every evening. These were the perfect length as well (except for the last one, that was a bit too long for me). So overall a pleasant experience. Was not my favorite by this author, so a bit of a lower rating.

I have read One cup at a time by Gwen Tarpley. This is the second book in the Cat's café series. I read this for the second time. This is a comic book.
Every time I read these it feels like a warm hug. Which was exactly what I felt reading this one. I love it so much! It makes me feel happy. I saw that a third one just came out, so definitely going to get that soon.

I have read This Arab is queer edited by Elias Jahshan. I read the ebook. Read this for book club. This is an adult nonfiction essay collection about LGBTQ+ topics.
This was a very interesting read! I learned a lot! Some essays really worked for me and others did less, but that's okay. I really liked learning new things about different cultures and from other LGBTQ+ people. Would recommend!
Goals Update and November Wrap Up:
What I read in November 2025

I have read A little luck by J.A. Collignon. This is the second book in the Arrowmount books series. I read the ebook. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult fantasy book.
I really enjoyed this book! I especially loved one of the main characters (the left one on the cover). I really liked the story. Some themes were not really for me, but for some reason it did work in this book. I think I do like flawed characters sometimes, it just depends. I thought this was a duology, but there is at least one more book in the series, so will read that one as well.

I have read Brigands & breadknives by Travis Baldree. This is the second book in the Legends & lattes series. Listened to the audiobook. Read this for a buddy read and my Series TBR. This is an adult fantasy book.
No surprise here, but I loved this from start to finish! I just love Travis Baldree as an author. I loved that he tried something new with this book in the series, it was more adventorous than the other two. I really loved all the characters in this book and I could read many more books in this world and from this series.

I have read The bride test by Helen Hoang. This is the second book in The kiss quotient series. I read a copy from the library. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult romance book.
I had high hopes for this book, since I loved the first book so much. Unfortunately this one wasn't for me. I actually stopped reading when I got about 200 pages in and just put it on finished. I really loved one of the main characters, I really related to him. Sadly the other main character didn't work for me. The main theme of this book was lying and I just really dislike that. At the point where I stopped reading I was so annoyed with that main character. Also because she was being very ableist. And then there was a chapter that got me annoyed with the other main character, so I decided to stop reading when I was still enjoying the book somewhat. I do want to read the next book, hopefully that goes better. But do need a bit of a break.

I'm currently reading Sweep of the heart by Ilona Andrews. This is the fifth and final book in the Innkeeper chronicles series. I'm reading the ebook. This is an adult science fiction fantasy book.
This book is quite a bit longer than the other books in the series, which is very exciting. I'm sad that this is the last book in the series. I'm very curious how the book will go, since we have a lot of open mysteries. The start of the book was already amazing and I love the set up of the plotline so far.
This was not the last book in the series! I really thought it was, but no. I don't see any other books planned yet, which makes me really sad. I love this series! This book was not my favorite in the series. It was a lot! There were a lot of new characters and a lot of new aliens. All these were described very thoroughly, but it was a bit too much for me. Still a very good and interesting story! And I still love the main character!

I have read Lollipop monster shop by Coyote JM Edwards. This is the second book in the Embervein Emporia duology. I read the ebook. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult fantasy book.
This was fun! Read it in one day. I liked it a little more than book one. I really liked the main character, she was my favorite from the story. I also just really enjoyed the candy making part and that it was quite present in the book.

I have read My fair Brady by Brian D. Kennedy. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my Authors TBR. I have read a book by this author before and really enjoyed it. This is a young adult romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
This was a very fun read! I read it very quickly, because I was really invested in the characters. This author writes diverse characters so well, also with the side characters. I just love that a lot. I also love that we don't really have homophobia in this book, really appreciate the author for that as well. Some LGBTQ+ books can become very heavy, but this one wasn't. Really looking forward to all the books this author will publish in the future!

I have read Sweep with me by Ilona Andrews. This is the novella between book four and five of the Innkeeper chronicles series. I read the ebook. This is an adult science fiction fantasy book.
This was very short, but very lovely. It was even shorter than I thought, because there was a chapter from the next book at the end. It was so much fun to read it. I laughed a lot and great to see even more characters in this world. It really added something to the series, so I'm glad I read this. I don't often read the novellas in between books from series.

I'm currently reading Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke. This is the third book in the Inkworld series. I'm reading the Dutch ebook, but I also own the book. This is my fifth time reading this book. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
Not much to say about this one, since I have read it a lot of times. I still love it as much as always. It's such a comfort read and exactly what I needed right now.
Loved every second of reading this. Really savored my time with it. I know I will keep reading this again and again, it never gets boring.
Goals Update and October Wrap Up:
What I read in October 2025

I have read Foe by Iain Reid. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for spooky season. Also read this for my Authors TBR, I have read a book before by this author that I enjoyed. This is an adult science fiction thriller.
I did not know what to expect going into this book. Had not read what it is about. I found it very intriguing from the start. Specifically why the author chose to write from this perspective and tell this story and not a different one. It was a very quiet, meandering book, which I really enjoyed. It was more of a character study than anything else. Would recommend! I'm also curious about the movie now.

I'm currently reading The black cat and the vampire Volume One by Nikke Taino. This is the first book in this series. I'm reading the ebook. Picked this up for spooky season. This is an adult romance manga with fantasy and mystery elements with LGBTQ+ characters.
I'm liking this so far. You can't do much wrong with a gay romance for me. I'm curious who the romance will be with though, but I can guess. There is also a bit of a mystery, which is not really a mystery I think, but that's okay. Curious if I will continue the series, that doesn't happen much with manga.
Enjoyed this one. Quick in between read and good for the season. I'm not continuing the series, but that is because it is not available anymore sadly. Did want to continue, was intrigued enough to do so.

I have read Eight perfect murders by Peter Swanson. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for spooky season. Also read this for my Authors TBR. This is an adult mystery thriller.
I read this in a day. Very readable and a perfect audiobook length. Story was very good, very suspenceful. I sat at the edge of my seat throughout. Really liked the bookish element of the book. But, I do need to give a warning, a lot of books are spoilered in this one. So look up a list if you read older books and don't want to get spoilered (think, Agatha Christie). Curious choice from the author. I personally would have and would have liked that he had chosen books that don't exist, that he made them up himself. Other than that, great book. Did not see the end of the mystery coming, did try to guess what it would be. So yeah, would recommend and I'm definitely going to read more from Peter Swanson.

I'm currently reading The hollow places by T. Kingfisher. I'm listening to the audiobook. This is my third time reading this book. I'm reading it for a readalong. Also reading it for spooky season. This is an adult horror book.
I really love this book. One of my favorite horror books. I just keep laughing and after that I'm kind of scared, because there are really creepy scenes in this book. Not reading this at night, that's for sure. I might have to reread this every year for spooky season.
Still a great read! I do still think it's a four star for me. Mainly because one part of the book is very scary I think, but the other part isn't really. Therefore it's a bit too long for me. But other than that it's still a great one.

I have read Room by Emma Donoghue. I read an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. Read this for spooky season. This is an adult literary thriller.
This was a good book. At first I really needed to get used to the audiobook, because a child narrates the book. But after a while I think that was a very powerful choice. I really thought this might have been a five star read. It was a very suspenceful story and very emotional. The two things I didn't like however was that the author kept mentioning a certain something (five times in fact, I counted) and I really did not understand why the author made that choice. Beside that I also felt annoyed and angry at the mother a couple of times, but I do understand why she acted like she did. Did not like that though. So overall a good reading experience and would recommend. I am curious about the movie now.

I have read The cabin in the woods by Sarah Alderson. I read an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. Read this for spooky season. This is an adult mystery thriller.
I'm very glad I found a thriller, and a domestic thriller at that, that I really enjoyed! It wasn't problematic, which is difficult to find in this genre. The story was strong. There were some good twists. I read it in one day and really enjoyed that experience. Would recommend!

I'm currently reading Bookshops and bonedust by Travis Baldree. This is the prequel in the Legends and lattes series. I'm reading this for the third time. I'm reading an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading it as a buddy read. This is an adult fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I love this book so much. Immediately when I started it, I had a huge smile on my face. I really love how the author describes everything, I really feel like I'm in the story. I also loves how he narrates the book, just love his voice.
Love this the whole way through! I think this one is my favorite of the two books I have read from this series. I'm very excited to read the new book!
Goals Update and September Wrap Up:
What I read in September 2025

I have read The guest by Emma Cline. I read a Dutch copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Read this because I was in the mood for a thriller and had heard good things about this author. This is an adult thriller with literary writing.
The beginning was pretty good. It was a pretty intriguing story and I was just along for the ride. I knew it wouldn't be a new favorite, but still a good read. I liked that the main character was very different from what I normally read. I thought I was going to give this a three and a half star. But unfortunately the ending was really not good, it ended very abruptly. If there were a couple of pages more it would have been a more sattisfying read for me.

I'm currently reading The enchanted greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst. This is the second book in The spellshop series. This is a companion to the first book. I'm listening to the audiobook. Reading this for my Series TBR and as a buddy read. This is an adult fantasy romance book.
I'm not enjoying this as much as the first book. The reason is because of a certain character I'm not enjoying and I miss more characters in the book as well. But it's still a very nice cosy fantasy, which I love. I do really love the setting for this book.
Very nice ending! Really enjoyed this book overall. I hope we get more companion books in this series, it's great.

I'm currently reading Sweep of the blade by Ilona Andrews. This is the fourth book in the Innkeeper chronicles series. I'm reading the ebook. Reading this for my Series TBR. This is an adult science fiction fantasy book with a romance.
I wasn't really enjoying this one at first, so I put it down for a while. I loved the third book in the series and immediately wanted to continue. But this book is very different from what I expected. It's about a specific character and we are not at the inn in this book, which is my favorite part of the series. But now that I picked it back up again, I am enjoying it more. I really like the political element of this book and I'm really enjoying the romance.
Glad I pushed through, because in the end I very much enjoyed this. The main character is very cool and I loved the other characters as well. The story was very well plotted and the ending was epic. There was also a pretty huge cliffhanger at the end, so I'm very excited to continue reading the series.

I have read The raging storm by Ann Cleeves. This is the third book in the Two rivers series. I read a copy from the library and listened to the audiobook at the same time. I read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult mystery book with crime elements.
I really loved this book! I read it in a day, I was very engaged. I really love the characters from this series. The mysteries are also good, but I just mainly love the characters and the setting. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, but it's not out yet and can't find when it will be published.

I'm currently reading We used to live here by Marcus Kliewer. I'm listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for a buddy read. This is an adult thriller with horror elements and LGBTQ+ characters.
This is good so far. It's pretty spooky, but not that creepy yet. Curious how much horror there will be in this book. I really appreciate the author for adding casual LGBTQ+ representation, it's not that difficult and he's doing it very well. It's a very readable book so far. I hope it won't get too creepy, but we shall see.
It did not get very creepy, which is what I prefer. The ending was a bit all over the place and I'm not sure I really liked it, but it was good enough to still keep my rating in place. I do not recommend the audiobook however. Certain sounds were not nice at all and elements of the book don't come across on audio. So be aware of that going into this book.

I'm currently reading Restricted by A.C. Thomas. This is the first book in The verge duology. I'm reading the ebook. Randomly picked this up, mainly because I want to read more science fiction. This is an adult science fiction book with a romance and LGBTQ+ characters.
Really enjoying this so far! It's a good mystery and I really like the characters. It's very horny though, which is fine, but now that I know the author is a woman, I'm not sure what to think about that. Might be more uncomfortable reading this book.
This would have been a 4 star read. I really liked the characters. The explicit scenes were a bit too much for me. The ending was very abrupt and I think this could just have been one book with two parts. But overall a fun mystery science fiction adventure. I decreased it with one star, because I was really uncomfortable with the amount of explicit scenes that were written by a woman. Therefore won't be reading the next book.

I have read Hemlock & silver by T. Kingfisher. I listened to the audiobook. I read this for a reading challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a 2025 release. Also read this for my Authors TBR. This is an adult fantasy book.
As the cover suggests this is a retelling of Snow White. Retellings can be hit or miss for me, but this author can do it very well. I really like that we follow a whole different person in this one. I really loved all the characters! The twists to the story were great. I liked the nods to the original as well, but it was not that many, which was a good balance for the story. A couple of small things that I didn't fully like, therefore not the full five stars.
Goals Update and August Wrap Up:
What I read in August 2025

I have read Fenris & Mott by Greg van Eekhout. I have listened to the audiobook. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
This was super fun and quick! I really enjoyed the plot and story. The characters were great. The book was exactly long enough I think. A really good in between audiobook.

I'm currently reading Fool's quest by Robin Hobb. This is the second book in The Fitz and The Fool trilogy and the fifteenth book in The realm of the Elderlings series. I'm reading an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. This is my second time reading this book. This is an adult fantasy book.
The beginning of this book is so tense! Almost can't stand it. Glad I immediately went into this one, because I just love this series so much. I do want to try and finish it this year. Don't have much else to say about this one, because it's just the absolute best.
The absolute best, just loved it so much. Did not remember everything, which was nice. The ending was very different than I remembered. Will definitely start the next one soon.

I'm currently reading The thing about jellyfish by Ali Benjamin. I'm reading a Dutch owned copy. Picked this up, because I am more in the mood for middle grade right now. This is a middle grade contemporary book.
I'm loving this so far. It's kind of an emotional read, because the main character is having such a hard time. I really like the facts about jellyfish in the book, very interesting! I also feel like the main character is autistic, even though it's not diagnosed, which is great to read about.
This was amazing! Perfect book. The length was exactly right. The story was very well executed. I really loved all the characters, especially the main character. Definitely keeping the book and definitely checking out another book by this author.

I have read Project hero by Briar Prescott. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my Authors TBR. Have read another book by this author which I really loved, so wanted to read more from him. This is an adult contemporary romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I loved this! So much fun to listen to. I laughed so much! I really liked both of the main characters, they were great. A great balance between the two. I liked the romance a lot and the message at the end about falling in love. Only thing I missed was at the end a longer part where they were together, I always like reading that.

I'm currently reading Brothersong by TJ Klune. This is the fourth book in the Green creek series. I'm reading a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for my Series TBR and Authors TBR. This is an adult fantasy book with a romance and LGBTQ+ characters.
This is the last book in the series, which makes me kind of sad, because I loved it so much. But yeah, the overall plot does have to come to a close at this point. I don't think this one will be my favorite in the series, very hard to top the third book. But still really enjoying it so far. I love the couple in this one a lot, they have a great dynamic. I really do hope the overall danger will wrap up kind of quickly, so we do see the characters being happy at the end for a pretty big part of the book. But we shall see if that will happen.
Loved this book very much! The absolute best. I do think this is my second favorite in the series. The ending was good, I liked how it wrapped up with the plot. I would have liked to see the characters have a more happy part at the end, that felt too short for me. But that is what it is. Definitely going to buy the rest of the series!

I have read Sweet nothings by Sarah Perry. I listened to the audiobook. I looked on StoryGraph for an LGBTQ+ nonfiction book, sorted on latest published and found this one. This is an adult nonfiction book with the genres food and drink and memoir with LGBTQ+ themes.
I really enjoyed this one! Lighthearted, because it's about candy. But also had some very interesting memoir parts in there. The LGBTQ+ themes were not very present, but present enough that it was worth putting that label on there. I learned a couple of new things from the representation in here. I loved how the book was set up. Just short essays about different kinds of candies, really liked that. The author narrated it herself and she did such a good job, really enjoyed her voice. Just overall a very pleasant experience.

I have read One fell sweep by Ilona Andrews. This is the third book in the Innkeeper chronicles. I read the ebook. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult science fiction fantasy book.
I loved this so much! This series has already been the best, but this one was definitely my favorite. There were some new elements added in this book. This one also had higher stakes and more emotion, which I really liked. Still really love the concept and especially the characters. Can't wait to continue with the series.

I have read Stars in their eyes by Jessica Walton and Aska. I read a copy from the library. Read this because I was very interested in the representation in this book. This is a young adult graphic novel with romance elements and LGBTQ+ characters.
This was a fun quick read. Really loved the art in this book. It was very colourfull. I especially loved all the representation, it was very interesting to read about and learn about new things. The romance I wouldn't really call a romance since it is such a short book and it takes place over a couple of hours. Would definitely pick up something else by these authors.

I have read Hunt for the golden scarab by M.G. Leonard. This is the first book in the Time keys series. I listened to the audiobook. Read this, because I love M.G. Leonard, so read it for my Authors TBR. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
This was great! I always love the books by M.G. Leonard. This one was a bit different from her previous books, so that was a nice surprise. I really liked the fantasy element in this book and the plot. The characters were good as well, but not my favorite. Excited to see where the rest of the series will go!

I'm currently reading Noteworthy by Riley Redgate. I'm reading the ebook. Picked this up because I need to read some more LGBTQ+ books for my goal and this one sounded interesting. This is a young adult contemporary book with LGBTQ+ characters.
Start of this is good. I like the plot and the main character, with representation. I am hesistant to continue though. So far the story feels like the classic Mulan story. Which is a story I'm always hesistant to read. Especially since this does have the LGBTQ+ label. Curious where that element will come in, because so far it's not present.
This book was a ride! I actually did not fully finish it, I stopped reading at 80%. For a big part of the book this was five stars for me, I really loved it. Especially the conversations about gender were something I loved. I also just really loved all the character interactions. But there were some smaller things that just felt a bit strange, some choices felt weird for the author to make. At about 80% there was one of those instances again and that one really annoyed me. After that there was also a change in the plot that I really disliked. This book would have been way stronger without it. So therefore I chose to stop reading, I wanted to keep the happy memories of reading it and not get angry whilst reading the rest of the book.

I have read My hero academia Volume 1 by Kohei Horikoshi. This is the first book in that series. I read a copy from the library. This is an adult fantasy manga.
This did not really work for me, my rating might have been too generous. I can't really pinpoint what I didn't like. I think it just felt too much like something I already have read? But that's not true? So I don't know. I won't continue with the series.

I'm currently reading The problem with perfect by Philip William Stover. I'm reading the ebook. Reading this one because it has been on my tbr for a while. This is an adult contemporary romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
So far it's good, but there does need to change something for me to fully enjoy it. I do think that will come soon with what I read in the synopsis. The characters are kind of unlikeable so far. Which is something I don't enjoy most of the time. I do think it's more so the circumstances than the actual characters, so will definitely read on. Also because this is very queer so far, which I love.
This was the absolute best! I loved this so much! I laughed throughout the whole book, which is something I love when books make me do that. The only thing which made it go down half a star is that we didn't see the couple together at the end, which is something I really love. Other than that, it was perfect!
Goals Update and July Wrap Up:
What I read in July 2025

I'm currently reading There's no such thing as an easy job by Kikuko Tsumura. I'm reading a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. This is my second time reading it. This is an adult contemporary book.
Loving this so far, I'm flying through it. It's such a mundane, boring book, but that is what I love about it. Just a lighthearted read about work. It's very much a comfort read for me. Definitely putting it on my wishlist, I think I would want to reread this often.
This was just great, I really loved it.

I have read A rover's story by Jasmine Warga. I listened to the audiobook. This is a middle grade science fiction book.
I listened to this in one day. It was super cute! I really liked the set up of the story with parts from the rover and letters from a child to the rover. I also really liked all the characters, especially all the robots. Fly was probably my favorite. Story itself was good, exactly the right length.

I have read Pip Bartlett's guide to magical creatures by Jackson Pearce and Maggie Stiefvater. This is the first book in the Pip Bartlett trilogy. I read a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. This was my second time reading this book. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
This is such a lovely little book. I love it a lot, might actually put it on my wishlist. I really love the concept with all the magical creatures. So fun! Story itself is very well done and the prefect length and pace. I also really like the characters.

I'm
currently reading Inkspell by Cornelia Funke. This is the second book
in the Inkworld series. I'm reading the Dutch ebook, but I also own a
copy of this. This is my fifth time reading this book. This is a middle
grade fantasy series.
Very happy to be back in this world. I just love it so much. It is definitely the best comfort read for me. I know the story completely at this point, but I don't mind at all. Just enjoying it loads.
I just love this, I don't have anything else to say.

I have read Valentine Crow and Mr. Death by Jenni Spangler. I started reading a Dutch copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook, but I switched over to the English version and that definitely worked better for me. Picked this one up randomly because I was in the mood for middle grade. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
This was good! On one hand a fun read, but on the other hand definitely some more heavier themes. I really liked the characters. The pace felt a bit off at the beginning, because we did not have a clear plot. But when that was established it was a great story for me. Would recommend, it doesn't have a lot of reviews.

I'm currently reading The spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. I'm listening to the audiobook. This is my second time reading this book. This is an adult fantasy book with a romance.
Started this one, because I needed something cosy and familiar and this was exactly that. I'm curious to see if my rating will change from what I rated it the first time. So far it might change. I still really love the characters and the setting of this book, so am very excited to read this again.
This was just cute and a lot of fun to read! Loved it. Did not higher my rating, but don't think I was bothered as much by the thing that I was bothered with the first time. I'm definitely going to put this one on my wishlist, especially since this is not a series anymore.

I'm currently reading The light of all that falls by James Islington. This is the third book in the Licanius trilogy. I'm reading an owned ebook. Reading this one for a challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a large book, over 700 pages. This is an adult fantasy book.
I wanted to read this whole book on holiday to enjoy it and finally finish this trilogy. But I read about 20% and just needed to stop already. It's similar to the second book with a lot of info dumping still. Something I really don't enjoy in fantasy books, especially not in a last book where the story just needs to be wrapped up. I don't want extra and new information. We had a pretty big time jump as well from the end of the second book, which felt strange to me. I also just don't really like the story anymore. Some parts are really good with good action and intrigue. But other parts are really boring, mainly because of the info dumping. I have put this one on pause because of this. Might get back to it, might not. We shall see.
I continued in the book, because I was excited to read it again all of a sudden. Fortunately the info dumping has stopped and the story has started more. I'm actually enjoying the story now, so I hope I will enjoy it troughout the whole book.
I did it! I finished it! Very happy. Did really like this book. But there were still too many info dumping bits. The ending also felt a bit rushed, so I actually think this could have been four books. I also wanted a bit more information from the ending, it felt a bit too abrupt for me. Overall the main thing I really liked in this series were the characters and the magic system.

I'm
currently reading Beware of chicken by Casualfarmer. This is the first
book in the Beware of chicken series. I'm listening to the audiobook.
This is an adult fantasy book.
I chose this book to start, because of the narrator, I just love him so much. The book itself started out very good. I thought it was going to be an easy five star read. Very much the cosy fantasy I have been enjoying. Unfortunately it took a turn that I'm not super enjoying. I probably still will give this a high rating, but not the five stars I had been hoping for.
It went down hill a bit for me throughout the book. There is a certain element in this book that I generally don't seem to really like in books. So therefore not the high rating I thought it could have been. Still a fun one to read, but I don't want to continue in the series.

I'm
currently reading Keedie by Elle McNicoll. This is the prequel to A
kind of spark. I'm reading the ebook. This is a middle grade
contemporary book.
Loving this so far. Very nice to read more about Keedie and also what it was like to have a pretty young autistic sibling. It is a very tough read however, because the main theme of this one is also bullying and ableism. So need to see when I can read it.
This was absolutely amazing. This one felt more relatable for me than the first book. The bullying was difficult to read about, but the main theme was how to handle that.
Goals Update and June Wrap Up:
What I read in June 2025

I'm currently reading The cinnamon bun book store by Laurie Gilmore. This is the second book in the Dream harbor series. I'm reading the Dutch ebook. Reading this one for my Series TBR and for my 2025 goal of reading new(ish) genres. This is an adult contemporary romance book.
Enjoying this so far. I really like in these books that there is a bit of a mystery element, which makes the plot very clear from the start and the romance can build around that. I like both the main characters a lot. I like their dynamic together.
This went downhill pretty fast for me. There were certain elements in the book that I did not like, but I think those could be spoilers, so won't go indepth. Not my favorite romance trope in this book. I was hesistant to read the next one, but I think that couple will work better for me.

I'm currently reading Paladin's faith by T. Kingfisher. This is the fourth book in The Saint of steel series. I'm reading the ebook whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for my Series TBR and my Authors TBR. This is an adult fantasy romance book.
This might be my favorite so far? The two main characters are my favorite couple so far I think. I already loved them in previous books, so was very excited when I started the book and saw that it was about these two. We shall see if the whole book with be amazing like the start. This one feels more balanced than the other books, especially in the romance parts.
Yes, this is my favorite of the series so far. The balance felt better throughout the whole book. The plot was very intriguing, especially towards the end. Overall a fantastic reading experience. Now I have to wait for the next one, hopefully it will be out soon.

I'm currently reading Fool's assassin by Robin Hobb. This is the first book in the Fitz and the Fool trilogy. I'm listening to the audiobook whilst reading an owned physical copy alongside. This is my second read of this book. Reading this one for a challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a trilogy. This is an adult fantasy book.
I was ready to start this and was looking forward to it, so I did. Already loving it of course. I remembered a lot about the story. There are a lot of time jumps in this book, which is actually really interesting to read. Really looking forward to the rest of the book.
Loved this of course. It's just my favorite series ever. Immediately started the next book.

I'm
currently reading Gears for queers by Abigail Melton and Lilith Cooper.
I'm reading the ebook. This is an adult nonfiction book about travel
and LGBTQ+ topics.
I'm very much enjoying this so far. I love the diary aspect and reading about the travels of these two people. The book starts in The Netherlands, where I live, so that is really fun.
This book was a bit more negative than I thought it was going to be in the beginning. However it was a very realistic account of the travels of these two people. I appreciated their honesty.

I have read Sweet bean paste by Durian Sukegawa. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my 2025 Goal of reading new(ish) genres. This is an adult contemporary book with literary writing.
The start of this one was amazing. Exactly what I wanted and needed. A mondane book about making sweet bean paste. Love it. I especially loved the characters in this one and the character dynamics between all of them. The ending part went a bit in the surrealist zone, so that was not my favorite part. This book did make me enthousiastic for more of these kind of books.

I have read Goldfish Volume 1 by Nana Yaa. This is the first book in the Goldfish series. I read a copy from the library. Read this, because I have been really enjoying reading manga and saw that they had this one at my library. This is an adult (? so far I would more say YA) fantasy manga.
This was a really fun read! It made me think a lot of One Piece, which I saw the life action version of. A lighthearted action manga with very loveable characters. I do think this would have been more fun if it was a comic instead, because it is a story that does rely on colour a bit. At first it was a bit difficult to figure out what happened and I did need to rely on the text for it. The story was really fun, loved the characters especially the animal companion. Excited to continue, not sure how many volumes they have at my library.

I have read De dolende God (The wandering God) by Fabrizio Dori. I read a Dutch physical copy lend from a friend. This is her favorite book, so was therefore intrigued to read it and I love the art of the cover. This is an adult magical realism graphic novel.
What I especially loved in this book was the art. It was very beautiful, very detailed. Loved all the different colours. The story itself was pretty good. It was very strange, but the right kind of strange. The story was the perfect length for this format. Characters were very intriguing to read about. Would recommend if you read the languages it has been published in.
Goals Update and May Wrap Up:
What I read in May 2025

I'm currently reading Heartsong by TJ Klune. This is the third book in the Green Creek series. I'm reading a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this for my Series and Author TBR. This is an adult fantasy book with a romance element and LGBTQ+ characters.
Loving this from page one. Very happy, since the second book was a bit of a struggle. I knew I was going to like this one, because of the central characters in this one. But it is also just very twisty and things are revealed that had me shocked. This might become my favorite in the series so far.
Definitely my favorite in the series so far. It was so good! Very emotional. Very well plotted. I love that the author respected the identity of the love interest. Ending was very good and made me want to start the next book immediately.

I'm
currently reading The falcon and the foe by A.J. Truman. This is the
first book in the Single dads club series. I'm listening to the
audiobook. This is an adult romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
The start of this one was very good. It is an actual enemies to lovers book. I really like the single dad aspect and like the main characters a lot. Unfortunately there were references to a certain book that I really don't want to read, especially in a book published in 2022 by a queer author. Makes me very angry and very disappointed in the author. Still enjoying the book, but it has definitely stayed in my mind. Going to decrease my rating because of this for sure.
It was mentioned one more time unfortunately. Had to take a whole star off for this. Story itself was still very good. A lot of smutty scenes. Romance between the men was very nice and cute. I am conflicted about reading another book from this author though.

I have read Spy x family Volume 5 by Tatsuya Endo. This is the fifth book in the Spy x family series. I read a copy from the library. This is an adult manga.
This one was back to the school setting, which is not my favorite of this series. But there was another element added towards the end that I actually really liked and excited to see where that storyline will go. It will focus the story a bit more I think, which I do want.

I'm currently reading Gwen and Art are not in love by Lex Croucher. I'm reading a copy from the library. Reading this for a book club and because it was on my TBR. This is a young adult historical romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I have always really liked the story of King Arthur. So this book was already a win for me. The start was very good, I really like the main characters. I don't like however how they are towards eachother. Hopefully that changes soon and I will enjoy the book more.
I did enjoy the book a lot more when the main characters actually liked eachother. The story was very well done and well plotted. I absolutely loved all the characters. Ending felt a little bit rushed and a bit convenient, but since this is a young adult book, that's totally okay. Can't wait to read more from this author.

I have read The kiss quotient by Helen Hoang. This is the first book in The kiss quotient series. I read a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Read this for my 2025 goal of reading new(ish) genres. This is an adult contemporary romance book.
I loved this so much. First female/male romance that I loved a lot. The main character, and the author, is autistic and it was really fun and great to read from that perspective. It was very well done. The male main character was a delight to read about. The book was very well plotted and thought out. The miscommunication at the end made sense and there was good communication between the characters. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Goals Update and April Wrap Up:
What I read in April 2025

I have read Spy X Family Volume 4. This is the fourth book in the Spy x family series. I read a copy from the library. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult fiction manga.
Loved this more then the last two volumes, but not as much as the first one. I of course loved the dog, he was the absolute best. The mystery felt a bit random however. Still fun to read, but the story seems very dragged out at this point. Even though we have many volumes to go. So hopefully I will keep liking the series, but we shall see.

I'm currently reading Nine goblins by T. Kingfisher. I'm reading the ebook. Reading this for the second time. This is an adult fantasy book.
I just love this so much. I love all the characters in this book and I especially love the humour. It's just so fun to read.
A masterpiece. I love this book so much. I could read this very often and not get bored by it. I would love to have an even longer version of the book, because that is the only complaint I really have. It's just too short!

I'm currently reading Paladin's hope by T. Kingfisher. This is the third book in The saint of steel series. I'm reading the ebook whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this book for the second time. Reading it for the readalong I'm doing still for all of this author's work. This is an adult fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I think I will increase my rating for this one, since it is my favorite of the series. This one is gay, so therefore more fun for me. Fun to read this a second time with more understanding of the story which came before.
I did not increase my rating. I felt like this one was less steamy then the other ones. Which might have been on purpose, I do understand that from the author. But for me that made it less enjoyable for this one. Great mystery though.

I have read The door-to-door bookstore by Carsten Henn. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for a challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a book completely outside of the apartment. This is an adult contemporary book.
I also loved this one from page one. The whole concept of a man who goes door to door to deliver books, absolutely amazing. Was a very wholesome read with some more emotional topics as well. Wasn't a five star read, because there was a certain book mentioned twice and I really dislike when authors mention that book. So therefore a lower rating.

I have read The tenfold tenants by E.V. Belknap. I read the ebook. I read this for a challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a book with an unlikeable main character. This is an adult fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I loved this from page one. It was such a funny book and very lighthearted, exactly what I need. I loved all the different characters, all the different magical beings. There was a bit of a mystery plot in the book, which was also fun. Just absolutely amazing and I really want to reread it very soon.

I'm currently reading Sweep in peace by Ilona Andrews. This is the second book in the Innkeeper chronicles. I'm reading the ebook. This is an adult science fiction fantasy book.
Loving this even more then the first book. Very fast plot introduction, which I really appreciate. Fast read, because I just want to know what happens. And I just really like the house and the main character. Might be a higher rating then the first book.
This was just absolutely great. Loved it so much and was really fun. There was a fun mystery in this one as well. Excited to read the next one.
Goals Update and March Wrap Up:
What I read in March 2025

I'm currently reading Wren Martin ruins it all by Amanda DeWitt. I'm listening to the audiobook. Started this for a challenge I'm doing this year, need to read a book with a green cover for that. This is a young adult contemporary romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
This feels like a very standard YA contemporary romance book, but I don't really mind that. There is a original element to it though, because the main character is asexual. I also really love the chickens. Overall this is not going to be a super high rating, but definitely a solid read.
This was just a fun in between read. Really liked the characters in this book. Story was also nice. There was a certain plot element that I'm not sure should have been a surprise, but it really wasn't, but that's okay. Definitely going to read more from this author.

I'm
currently reading Clean sweep by Ilona Andrews. This is the first book
in the Innkeeper chronicles. I'm reading the ebook. Not sure how I found
this book, I think it was on a cosy fantasy list, so therefore picked
it up (I wouldn't consider this cosy fantasy). This is an adult fantasy
science fiction book.
I'm enjoying this so far. I really like the magic system and the main character. The science fiction element is small so far, so am curious if that will be more. I'm also curious where the story will go and if there will be a romance.
Really really enjoyed this one. Just a very fun time with a very good plot and great characters. There sort of was a romance, but not really, which I appreciated. One of the few book series where I immediately started the next book.

I have read Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 by Cho Nam-Joo. I read a copy from the library. Read this for a buddy read. Also read this for my 2025 Goals of reading new(ish) genres. This is a contemporary book with literary writing.
This was not the book for me. Maybe I shouldn't have read it. My enjoyment of this book was very low. I hate reading about sexism and that was a huge theme here of course. It was interesting to learn certain things, but the rest was just me being angry. I did not really like the set up of the book. It just felt like a biography/memoir of a person. I would then rather read that genre then a fictionalized version like this. I would have liked to see more of a story. And a break from all the sexism. It was just too much. I can see why other people love this book. I think it's an important read. But because my enjoyment was so low, I can't give it more then 3 stars.

I have read Puzzleheart by Jenn Reese. I listened to the audiobook. Had this on my tbr for a while and I needed a short/easy audiobook, so decided to pick it up. This is a middle grade mystery book with LGBTQ+ characters.
This was awesome! Really liked it. Don't think I have every read a book with a nonbinary main character before, so that was great. It was pretty casual in the book, which I really liked. I like it when it's not very heavy handed or with bullying or something. The story itself was great as well, the mystery aspect really fun. The puzzles were the best.

I'm currently reading You've lost a lot of blood by Eric LaRocca. I'm listening to the audiobook. Have been wanting to read this author for a while, so picked it up because I was in the mood for horror. This is an adult horror book with LGBTQ+ characters.
Not sure what to think of this one. The set up of the book is a bit confusing with a lot of different parts. The writing is good, but a bit too literary for me I think. I do like the horror elements and the characters so far. Curious how the story will come together.
Well, the story did not come together. So I was a bit confused about that. Overall I did like certain aspects, but not others.

I have read Spy X Family Volume 3 by Tatsuya Endo. This is the third book in the Spy X Family series. I have read a copy from the library. Read this for my Series TBR. This is an adult manga.
This was really fun to read again. Just really enjoy this story and the characters. I think the next volume will be even better then this one, very much looking forward to it.

I have read Coffee, milk and spider silk by Coyote JM Edwards. This is the first book in the Embervein Emporia series. I read this as an ebook. Decided to pick this up, because I want to read more cosy fantasy. I also read it for a yearly challenge I'm doing with the prompt: read a short book. This is an adult fantasy book with contemporary elements.
I did not know much about this book going into it. Some things therefore surprised me. In this book there are almost only magical creatures. Which was really fun to read about, although it was hard to picture sometimes, especially with the main character. I also did not know this had a contemporary setting. I generally don't really like that in fantasy books. I did not really mind here, but it did throw me out of the story a couple of times. It was a very cosy book however. Bit too short for me, but fun to read nonetheless.

I'm currently reading Ravensong by TJ Klune. This is the second book in the Green creek series. I'm reading a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for my Series TBR and for a buddy read. This is an adult fantasy romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
So far I don't think I'm really enjoying it? Which is really devastating since I loved the first book. My main problem is that this is from a different perspective than the first book. And a lot of things are kind of repetition of the first one. Or information that I don't think is that important? Or it is, but only when you love this particular character a lot, which I don't really. I like him, but not enough to have a whole book from his perspective. Hopefully I will like it more soon.
As you can see, in the end I definitely did enjoy this one. I should have trusted in the author to make it better and the best. It was such an emotional read again, I definitely teared up a few times towards the end. Enjoyed the characters more and more whilst reading the book and I actually appreciated the different perspective. Now super excited to read the next one.

I have read I can't remember the title but the cover is blue by Elias Greig. I read the ebook. Read this because I wanted something lighthearted and it was compared to The diary of a bookseller, a book I love. This is an adult memoir.
This was the absolute best, absolutely amazing. I laughed so much whilst reading this! It was just so funny. Also so ridiculous what people will say to bookshop workers. Or how people behave towards retail workers. I hope I can find more books like this, just the best kind of books.
Goals Update and February Wrap Up:
What I read in February 2025

I'm currently reading A second story by J.A. Colligan. This is the first book in the Arrowmount books series. I'm reading the ebook. This is a fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
Loving this so far. This is the cosy fantasy I really needed right now. I love the worldbuilding in this book. And I especially love the characters. A delight to read. I think I will only have the complaint at the end that it wasn't long enough.
This was a little bit of a disappointment. I thought I had found a new favorite. But unfortunately it wasn't. There were some things that didn't totally work for me. First there were some mistakes that could have been resolved with editing. For example already mentioning someone's name in one sentence and the next sentence they introduce themself. Other thing I didn't like was the repetitiveness of the main conflict in the book. The story had the same plot points as a romance book, but it wasn't a romance book. So I did not really like that. I also really wanted more time in the bookshop itself. Therefore I think it could definitely have been longer. What I did really like were the characters, the fantasy elements and the vibes. It was really cosy. Definitely more of a Summer read, if you read seasonally (which I don't). Overall would definitely recommend and I'm excited to read the sequel.

I have read Paladin's strength by T. Kingfisher. This is the second book in the Saint of steel series. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my Series TBR, Authors TBR and for a buddy read. This is an adult fantasy romance book.
Another great book from this author. I laughed a lot. I really liked the representation for the female main character. The ending felt a little bit rushed, but that's okay.

I'm currently reading The heron's cry by Ann Cleeves. This is the second book in the Two rivers series. I'm reading a copy from the library whilst listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for my Series TBR. This is an adult mystery book.
Liking
this more then the first book. The pace is a bit better. The mystery is
also more intriguing I think. Still really like the atmosphere and set
up and especially like all the characters.
Another solid book in this series with a good twist at the end.

I'm currently reading The rage of dragons by Evan Winter. This is the first book in The burning series. I'm reading an owned ebook. Reading this for The Haunted Party readathon for The Haunted Party with the prompt: read a book big book. This is an adult fantasy book.
Loving this so far. Finally an adult high fantasy book that I'm enjoying, it has been a while. What I love about this book is how action packed it is so far. Really enjoying that. Characters are good, but I do need to get to know them a bit more. What I also love is that the chapters are pretty small, so it feels like I'm flying through the book instead of slogging on. Hope it will keep this up.
I took a break from this book for a while and picked it back up again recently. I really enjoyed reading the rest of the book. It was well paced with a good ending as well.

I'm currently reading Record of a spaceborn few by Becky Chambers. This is the third book in the Wayfarers series. I'm reading an owned copy. This is an adult science fiction book with LGBTQ+ characters.
At first I was not sure how to feel about this book. There was a prologue part that I did not really vibe with or understand. Fortunately it went quickly to the actual story and I'm loving that, which was to be expected. I love that we are following a lot of different characters and just their general life on a spaceship. Really fun! Curious if there will be a more general plot, but don't mind if that is not the case.
This was absolutely amazing, of course. It took me some time to read, but I liked that. I could take everything in slowly, which was nice. Excited to read the final book.

I have read Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. This is the first book in the Legends & Lattes series. I read an owned copy whilst listening to the audiobook. This is my third read of this book. This is an adult fantasy book with LGBTQ+ characters.
I loved this so much again. It's such a comfort read for me. I noticed this time that it's also super well written. Haven't read it physically before, so this time I really noticed that more. Very atmospheric. Just absolutely amazing.

I have read Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa. This is the first book in The Morisaki Bookshop duology. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my goal of reading more asian translated books. This is an adult contemporary book.
The beginning started great. We had a good set up of the story and the characters. Then we went to the bookshop and I really enjoyed that. But very fast we weren't in the bookshop at all. Most of this book is just drama between characters which is not something I enjoy reading about. I just wanted the days at the bookshop, like the title promised. Was a big disappointment and I won't be continuing the series.

I'm
currently reading Ducks by Kate Beaton. I'm reading an owned copy.
Reading this one for a buddy read. This is a graphic novel memoir.
Very conflicted about this book. I really love the illustrations. The story is very interesting so far. I just hate all the sexism in this book. But that is of course the experience the author had, which is horrendous. Just tough to read about, but very important to do so. My enjoyment is therefore not very high, but I do think it's a great book so far.
My enjoyment was still very low for this book throughout, so that would be 3 stars. But the book itself is definitely 5 stars. It's very beautiful and well written I think. Therefore my rating is in the middle of those two ratings.
Goals Update and January Wrap Up:
What I read in January 2025

I have read Book boyfriend by Kris Ripper. I listened to the audiobook. Read this one to stay on top of reading LGBTQ+ books for my goals. Have also had this one on my TBR for a while. This is an adult romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
Probably gave this a higher rating then was probably the case whilst reading, but I just think this book needs to be shared more. The author is super cool and this book just needs to get out there more. I really liked all the characters in this book. It was very queer, which is awesome. The plot was fun. The only thing that wasn't for me was the miscommunication in this book. But in the end I did understand why that happened, so therefore gave it a higher rating.

I'm currently reading The bromance book club by Lyssa Kay Adams. This is the first book in the Bromance book club series. I'm reading a Dutch ebook. Reading this one because I want to try more of this genre. This is an adult contemporary romance book.
I'm
liking this a lot so far. I love the concept. I love that we are
following a married couple, feels very original. The men in the book are
great, really like how the author wrote them. I also like the women in
the book, they are written very well. The only thing I don't like is a
certain character. This would have been a new favorite if it wasn't for
him.
This was great! I really enjoyed it. Laughed a lot and was just a fun time. The ending was also well done.

I have read That blue sky feeling Volume 2 by Okura. This is the second book in the That blue sky feeling series. Read an owned copy. Read this for my Series TBR and for a buddy read. This is a romance manga with LGBTQ+ characters.
The beginning of this one was not the best. Was scared it wasn't going to be good. But fortunately it got better and I really enjoyed the story. Still disliked the homophobia, but it is what it is. I had also hoped for more romance, since there hasn't been any yet. So that genre is sort of a spoiler for this series. Excited to finish the series with the last volume.

I have read Cat's café by Gwen Tarpley. This is the first book in the Cat's café series. This is my third read of this book. I read an owned copy. This is a comic.
This comic is the absolute best. I love it with my whole heart and could read many more volumes of it. Hopefully they will be made.

I have read Lose you to find me by Erik J. Brown. I listened to the audiobook. Read this for my Authors TBR. This is a young adult contemporary romance book.
The cover is already the best and it is exactly what the book is. Super fun restaurant parts and a romance. This author writes characters very well and I laughed a couple of times too. Story was fun, we had a good plot point throughout the book. Romance was great.

I have read Daindreth's assassin by Elisabeth Wheatley. This is the first book in the Daindreth's assassin series. I listened to the audiobook. Read this one for a buddy read and also to try out this genre more. This is an adult fantasy romance book.
I liked this a lot! What I especially liked were the characters. The plot was also good and I really liked the magic system. The romance had a good pace for me. Just an overall good reading experience.

I have read Cat + Gamer Volume 2 by Wataru Nadatani. This is the second book in the Cat + gamer series. I read an owned copy. This is a contemporary manga.
Again, did not like this one as much as volume one. Not sure why I liked this one less then the first volume. Probably because it wasn't new anymore? I don't know. It also felt a bit too fragmented of a story maybe? Just the main character playing games and the cat reacting to that. I don't know. I have one volume left that I own and we shall see if I want to get the other volumes as well.

I'm currently reading Malice by John Gwynne. This is the first book in The faithful and the fallen series. I'm listening to the audiobook. Reading this one for a buddy read and I have been wanting to read this series. This is an adult fantasy book.
This
book is good, but it is also sort of hard to follow. Not that I really
mind, but it does decrease my enjoyment of it. There are a lot of
perspectives we are following and I don't really see the point yet why
so many. The narrator narrates very well, but he does have a certain
accent that is a bit hard to follow especially with names. So this is a
slow read, but that's okay. I always like adult high fantasy and this is
no exception, I am very intrigued.
The confusion was there for me throughout the book. But only with certain perspectives, basically the ones that we didn't get to hear from often. I also don't have much to say about the book. It was a solid fantasy book, but not more then that. The only aspect that felt original was the giants, so hope we will see those more in future books.

I have read Spy x Family Volume 2 by Tatsuya Endo. This is the second volume in the Spy x Family series. I read a copy from the library. This is a manga.
I did not like this as much as the first one. Mainly because there was a bullying element in the book and I hate reading about that. But otherwise the story is still really fun.

I'm currently reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. This is the first book in the Inkworld series. I'm reading the Dutch ebook, but I also own the book. This is my sixth time reading this book. I needed a comfort read and this is exactly that. This is a middle grade fantasy book.
Not
a lot to say about this one, because it is one of my favorite series of
all time. I have read it a lot of times, so know the story very well.
Excited to be back in this world and loving every minute of it. It is
going to be a slow read, because I am reading other things in between.
Yes, still amazing. Still a favorite. Still loved it!

I have read Spy x Family Volume 1 by Tatsuya Endo. This is the first volume in the Spy x Family series. I read a copy from the library. This is a manga.
This was the best! I have heard great things about this series and when I saw that my library had a couple of volumes of it I was super excited. I did not know though that this was really funny! I laughed out loud multiple times. The characters were great and the whole concept is really awesome. Just really enjoyed it and excited to continue with the series.
