My Reading Goals for 2025

My goals, from most priority to least priority:
> Read however, whenever, whatever
> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories, classics

Goals Progress September 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This month I did read what I wanted, even though it doesn't super look like that. I had some books I did finish, but had some lower ratings. Two of them I read in a day and enjoyed my reading experience that day. The lowest one I could have not finished. Did not find a new favorite unfortunately. Also did not finish any of my rereads, but I did start a reread, which I'm really enjoying, but just reading slowly. Moods are different from before, reading different genres at the moment.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
Very happy how this looks. I'm glad I managed to read some for this goal. Next month is going to be more difficult I think, but I'm also reading genres I haven't read much from, so it's probably going to be okay with my overall stats.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories, classics
Did not read anything for this goal. Still not feeling very motivated to read anything for this. I do have some for the next upcoming months to read, but we shall see what I will read.

Goals Progress August 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This month I definitely read what I wanted. I saw at the challenge I make every month for a monthly overview that I read in 27 books in total. Which is a lot, but I really want to embrace my chaotic reading. The books I did finish were all amazing, so really happy with that.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
I'm back! I'm very glad I prioritized this goal this month. I really loved all the books I read for this goal. Hope I
can keep this up the rest of the year.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
Did not read anything for this goal, I'm not feeling too motivated to keep working on this one. So might leave it for the rest of the year. I did however read a book in the genre Essays which I really enjoyed, so might add that one to the genres list.

Goals Progress July 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This month I'm not sure if I really read what I wanted. I mainly focussed on finishing all the books on my currently reading shelf. I did however reread quite a bit, so that is definitely read whatever I want.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
I did not achieve this goal this month. At all. I did not realise I didn't read anything! That is such a shame! I do think I read some, but some I did not finish and some I actually finished right at the start of the new month. So that is something. But do really want to get back to this goal next month.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
Did not really read anything for this goal. Not really, because I did read one asian translated book, but that was a reread.

Goals Progress June 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This month it went a bit different I think. I still read whenever I wanted, I took a bit of a break in the middle of the month. I do think I could have DNFed one of the books I gave 3 stars to. I also could have tried and find more 5 stars reads. Hopefully next month I will find more 5 star reads.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
I did not achieve this goal this month. Which is a shame, since I was doing so well. I did not really think about this goal this month, I think I
do need to think about it a bit more.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
Did read two books for this goal, one was a female/male romance and one was an asian translated book. Do want to try and read books for other genres, hopefully I will be able to.

Goals Progress May 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
I'm still achieving this goal pretty easily. I took my time with all the books I read. Some took me quite some time, but that is totally okay. Ratings were good. Only one I feel disappointed in is the 3 star one, but that was because of the author being annoying.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
I managed to achieve this goal this month. Very easily, because I was very much in the mood for queer books. Also fun to see how much romance I read, almost exclusively.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
Did read one book for this goal, the female/male romance genre. I found one that I really loved, so very excited about that.

Goals Progress April 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
I'm still very much reading the moods I want to read. Still lighthearted reads that are cosy reads. This month I only read books in my comfort zone, which means my ratings were really high. Always nice when that happens. I also Paused a lot of books. Just read the ones that grabbed my attention and the rest went on Pause, so I don't have to make a decision on those right now. Very glad StoryGraph added that feature recently.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
I managed to achieve this goal this month. Also because I didn't read that many books and that many different genres. Glad I'm still keeping up with this goal.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
Did not read any books for this goal really. One had the subgenre mystery, but not going to count that one.

Goals Progress March 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
Reading lighthearted reads is still going strong, which is exactly what I need at the moment. I also did not read that many hours this month, which is also good, because I'm not pushing myself. For the ratings, I could have DNFed the lowest rated books. But both were pretty okay for finishing them, so that is okay.

> Don't buy/get any physical books (exception is book swap for book club)
I have decided I'm going to delete this goal. I don't think this year is the right year to do this. If I want to buy a book, I will just buy a book. As you can see here, I bought quite a few in March and I'm okay with that.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
This was the best month for this goal so far. Very happy with this result. It feels good to read so many LGBTQ+ books and I'm really enjoying it.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
I read two books in March for this goal. Did not realise I read two. First one is an asian translated book. Another one that did not work for me. Hopefully I will find some that do work. The other was a mystery, which I really enjoyed.

Goals Progress February 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This did not go that well this month. Well, partly. I wanted to read some more darker books and more horror. Did not manage to do that, since I fell off listening to audiobooks towards the end of the month. I did however read way less towards the end of the month, because I wasn't feeling it and I
picked up another hobby. So am happy with that.

> Don't buy/get any physical books (exception is book swap for book club)
I did not get any books in February as you can see down below. The number is the same as last month.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
As you can see in the stats below, I
managed to achieve this goal. Way easier then the month before. Very happy with that, hope to keep this up.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
I read two books in February for this goal, which is great. The first book was an asian translated book. I did not enjoy the book however. Do hope to find ones that I
will enjoy. Second one was a mystery in a series I already started. Was a win, hope I will like the third book as well.

Goals Progress January 2025

> Read however, whenever, whatever
This is going very well. As you can see on my Wrap Up page I had such a fantastic reading month in January that I had no disliked books or books I
was disappointed in. Which is exactly what I want! I also read a lot of manga, because reading was a bit more difficult, which I'm glad I did, because I enjoyed that a lot too. Most reads were very lighthearted, which is exactly what I need right now. Definitely a succesfull month!

> Don't buy/get any physical books (exception is book swap for book club)
I got one book in January, but that was a gift for my birthday. So that is totally fine.

> Have LGBTQIA+ as my most read genre or at least in Top 3
As you can see in the stats below, I did manage to do this. I
do want to try and make a bit more effort with it, so it isn't as close of a win.

> Maybe try some newish genres. Thinking of YA thrillers, poetry, asian translated books, female/male romance, mystery, short stories
I read one book in January for this specific goal. I
did not have a number in mind of the amount I wanted to read for this challenge, but I think one is great. I want to at least do one for each genre throughout the whole year. More would be even better, but we shall see.
